Kemith Thompson was a featured speaker at The K12 Facilities Forum’19.

Born and raised in Kansas City, MO, Kemith Thompson has the ideal foundation for Operations Management and the passion for creating a thriving learning environment. His diverse professional background includes Finance and Audit, Supply Chain Management, International Logistics, Post-Secondary Academia, and K12 Operations.

He joined Clayton County Public Schools in October 2016 and currently serves as Executive Director of Operations overseeing Student Transportation, Facilities Maintenance, School Nutrition, Athletics Operations and Construction. Serving over 55,000 students, the high performing Clayton County Public Schools is ranked among the 100 largest school districts in the U.S. and is the fifth-largest school system in Georgia. Under Kemith’s leadership, Operations consistently delivers quality support services on-time and within budget consistent with the strategic goals of the system.

Prior to joining Clayton County Public Schools, Kemith held various management positions in the private sector. He began his career with General Electric Company after graduating from Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas with a BA in Business Administration and Accounting. Kemith also holds an MA in Human Resources Development and an MBA in Finance.

After a transfer to Louisville, Kentucky, he spent most of his career in various supply chain logistics’ management positions for several of the top global consumer packaged goods manufacturers, British American Tobacco and RJ Reynolds. His progressive experience in the field of Supply Chain Management afforded him the opportunity to introduce supply chain management concepts and career opportunities to the next generation of young adults in post-secondary education. He joined Atlanta Technical College in 2010 to develop and implement a new Supply Chain Management Degree Program earning him an appointment as Associate Dean of Industrial and Transportation Technologies. Kemith’s diverse background and achievements building teams and delivering meaningful results brings him to his current role serving his community.

Kemith lives in Atlanta, Georgia and is married to an educator. He is also a proud father of two sons, daughter-in-law and grandfather to 2-year-old Chloe.
